Types of Events to Consider - Submit Request
A Seminar - TThis is a large-group, low threat level event where individuals and couples could gain knowledge and understanding about the nature, purpose and function of a covenant marriage with minimal group interaction required. It also allows for the inclusion of all segments of the congregation
This format would include everything from Bible Study and Preaching opportunities to All-Day Seminars
A Conference - This event is made up of several sessions in which we would share information and facilitate husband/wife interaction through the use of strategic exercises. The major focus is on providing an environment in which couples feel safe learning and practicing the principles being taught. This event normally takes place at the church and does not require an overnight stay.
Once we have established the biblical foundation of covenant marriage, the
couples will deal with topics such as:
-How to communicate effectively
-Growing Spiritually
-Dealing with conflict in marriage
-How to manage money
-The family schedule
-Nurturing Intimacy
A Retreat - This approach provides couples with a special
time away from home and their daily routines. In a retreat, couples learn and
practice dealing with similar issues listed in the conference setting above.
However, a retreat setting allows both the time and the environment for couples
to process the information being shared without the distractions of daily responsibilities
and distractions.
There are two retreat models:
-The Covenant Marriage Retreat Model - a two-day experience (Friday
night through Sunday lunch). This model includes a few extra hours of teaching
plus recreational time for couples on Saturday afternoon or evening.
-The Covenant Marriage "Mini-Retreat" is most effective as
an overnight experience from Friday night through Saturday afternoon. This can
be done in whatever time frame the couples can give but is an abbreviated form
of the full Covenant Marriage Retreat
